(26 February 2009) The European Works Council of the German energy company EON devoted most of its time to discuss the implications of the recent acquisitions, the new information services company and the Performance to Win savings plan. It discussed these developments with the Chief Operating Officer and vice-chair of the Board of Directors Johannes Theyssen. Trade union representatives raised concerns with him about the savings plans and its implications. The importance of information was underlined. Other issues on its agenda included the amendments to the EWC Directive and European energy developments. The EPSU Deputy General Secretary spoke of the European challenges for the energy companies and stressed full information and consultation rights also on savings and restructuring plans. EON is active in several countries including Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungaria, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, UK.
