Best Western Parc Hotel - Bucharest, Romania 29- January - 1 February 2005 The seminar is targeted at trade union/ works council representatives working in the following companies: ENEL (Italy, Slovakia, Romania); EON (Germany, Bulgaria); EON-Ruhrgas (Germany, Romania); CEZ (Czech Republic- Bulgaria); EVN (Austria - Bulgaria) Gaz de France (France- Romania) The reason for this is that these representatives will be involved in possible European Works Councils. Other representatives are welcome but the project does not allow for reimbursement of their costs. Objectives - Contribute to understanding the creation of a European Works Council (SNB and negotiations); - Understand the operation and functioning of an EWC; - The role of an EWC in take-overs; - Test the relevance of the EPSU take-overs and mergers checklist and relating it to the actual practice; - Explore the relation of the EWC to the European Social Dialogue. The seminar will take place 30 January - 1 February 2005, Bucharest, Romania. (arrival on Saturday 29 January). The seminar will provide workers’ representatives of the companies concerned with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with European Works Councils and to meet with colleagues of the mother companies. The training will be carried out by Jean-Claude Le Douaron of the European Trade Union College.
