(28 january 2008) Trade union representatives from Spain, UK, Netherlands and Belgium met to discuss the establishment of an EWC for their companies: Spanish company Aguas Barcelona and Dutch company Delta. The unions discussed the legal framework, practices of EWCs, their draft agreements, internal rules of procedure and what the priorities of the work programme should be. Issues considered were the investment strategies, questions of outsourcing and general company policies. Dominque Raphael, a member of the EWC of Electricite de France, gave an overview of the work the EWC is undertaking and how the EWC has organised its work, ensuring the interests of the workforce in all countries are taken into account. EPSU Deputy General Secretary participated in the course presenting EPSU, its work on EWCS and sharing experience with the participants. The course was organised with the training institute of the European trade union institutue. Bruno Delmaitre was the trainer. It took place in Mechelen, Belgium 21-23 January 2008.
