The European Metalworkers’ Federation, Alstom and Schneider Electric sign a European agreement regarding the social commitments made in the framework of the joint acquisition of Areva T&D The European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF), Alstom and Schneider Electric have concluded a European agreement that reflects the strong commitments of the two industrial Groups on the integration of Areva T&D’s employees, to provide them with a professional future and better prospects to develop their long-term potential. Patrick Kron, Alstom Chairman and CEO, and Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Schneider Electric President & CEO, had already expressed their shared views on employment management, training and promotion of social dialogue during the Areva group’s European Committee meeting held on December 17, 2009. This agreement outlines rules and procedures to guide employees of Areva T&D who will join the two groups: the Transmission activities of Areva T&D becomes Alstom’s new sector, Grid; the Distribution activities of Areva T&D are integrated into the Schneider Electric’s Energy Business. The agreement also applies to employees in the sectors directly affected by this acquisition. The three parties intend to deploy and to implement the agreement over time through monitoring arrangements at European and national levels. The innovative nature of the agreement is illustrated both by its European dimension and its content, which covers employment management in the context of an acquisition. press contact Fédération européenne des metallurgistes Linda Rackham Tel.: +32 (0) 2 227 10 18 lrackham@emf-fem.org
