Elanders held their European Works Council meeting in Gothenburg on March 11. Representatives from plants in the UK, Poland, Hungary and Sweden were in attendance. Jan Strandberg, Trade Union Official from GS-facket and Steve Walsh, HOD UNI Graphical were also in attendance.
Each country representative provided reports from their respective plants and the work that has been undertaken at various sites designed to improve the performance of the Company.
The Company provided an overview of the strategic direction that has been set by the Board. Following that presentation the CEO answered questions from the EWC on issues relating to the respective plants and the strategic direction.
Steve Walsh also discussed with the CEO and the EWC the implementation and application of the Global Agreement signed between the parties in early 2009. Commitments were given that the Global Agreement will continue to be an important part of the ongoing dialogue between the Company and the Unions.
Steve Walsh also spoke to the workers representatives about the importance of maintaining and continuing to expand the network which was established as part of the Global Agreement last year.
