Just before the IG-Metall's four-year Congress, on October 9-15, 2011, the management of the Metalworkers' Union Federation is starting to leak the first elements of its evaluation. For the biggest sectoral union in the world, 2011 is a luxurious year since, for the first time in 22 years, it is going to grow in size, about 15,000 more members. Other positive element, one in two new members is under the age of 27. Finally, the cash flow should increase by 3% and reach a new record: EUR 457M. Besides, the management decided to cut the number of board members from 7 down to 5 within the framework of the structural reform which already led to 100 job cuts at the organization's headquarters. The main outline of collective negotiations, which will take place in February 2012, is starting to take shape. (Ref. 110546)
