How to keep businesses competitive while dealing with employees' interests? It is the underlying question for the coming negotiations in the technological industry. Following the claims released on September 20th by the sector's employers' organization, Teknikföretagen, unions jointly presented their claims on September 30th. While the IF-Metall (metalworkers' union), Unionen (private sector) and Sveriges Ingenjörer (Swedish engineers) all call for a 3.7% wage increase and a one-year agreement starting on February 1, 2012, the employers' organization rejected a few additional claims and is calling for the possibility of reviewing wage increases in case of national or local difficulties, which the IF Metall refuses.
