From the beginning of march to the end of May, all IG-Metall members are going to elect their "Vertrauensleute" (literally 'persons of trust') to represent the trade union in their company. These are not the same as the works council's representatives; they play a major part by acting as a bridge between the union and employees. Planet Labor is using these elections, which are held every four years in the metal industry, to explain this key role, often undervalued. (Ref. 120019)
