On Thursday, January 12, the Verdi services union and the management of the Deutsche Post agreed on a 4 percent wage increase for the company's 130,000 employees. The agreement will be in force from April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013. The employment guarantee pact is extended until the end of 2015. To get this increase, Verdi didn't even need to turn to threats. The agreement also contains a single bonus and a payment amounting to a 0.5 percent increase of the payroll on a 'demographic fund' aiming to absorbing the consequences of retirement at 67.
