News memo
On Friday, February 10, the government adopted a decree deeply reforming the labor market. It makes layoff procedures simpler, removes the administrative authorization for mass layoffs, brings compensation from 45 down to 33 days for unfair layoffs, and makes it easier to layoff on economic grounds. The reform also aims to improve flexibility in businesses, giving precedence to company agreements over sectoral collective agreements. The reform also introduces a series of measures on training and youth employment, and others to make it easier for jobseekers to get back to the labor market. (Ref. 120100)
