The management of the IG BCE chemistry union announced, on Tuesday, February 14, its wage claims for the collective negotiations which will start in Hesse on April 17. Mentioning the sector's good economic health, the union is calling for a 6 percent wage increase over 12 months for the 550,000 chemistry employees. Besides, the IG BCE wants to improve the agreement on "lifelong working time and demography" signed in 2008. For their part, employers also want to put the demographic evolution at the center of the debate, but they recommend extending working time, which the union is strongly and resolutely rejecting.
