In Germany, there are countless internal systems offering "recruitment bonuses" to employees who successfully recommended a friend or an acquaintance for a vacant position. This practice, which appeared in IT at the time of the new economy, is making a big comeback because of demographic ageing combine with how important technological innovation is in economic competition. The last example to date is that of the Deutsche Bahn which intends to hire up to 15,000 people in the next couple years and is currently establishing such a program.
