On April 18, the European Metalworkers' Federation (EMF) organized a coordination meeting with the trade union and works council representatives of the PSA and Opel/Vauxhall (GM) automotive manufacturers. After the meeting, the European trade union organization denounced "the lack of information and consultation on the part of the management of the two companies," "thus violating employee information and consultation rights." To solve this problem, and to foster "constructive cooperation," the two group's employee representatives developed a 5-step plan which includes the creation of a Worker Representative Steering Group to monitor the situation and the launch of a vast information and action campaign within the companies.
