UNI Global Union and the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) published a White Paper entitled "Corporate Irresponsibility" during the annual general meeting of Deutsche Post DHL on Wednesday, April 9, in Frankfurt. The two organizations are blaming the German for violating, outside Europe, numerous workers' rights. The White Paper talks about the paupers' wages paid to the increasing number of agency workers, lie detector testing in Colombia or even bullying measures against unionized employees. Therefore, UNI Global and ITF are calling on Deutsche Post DHL to negotiate a global agreement on the respect of workers' rights across the globe. Frank Appel, CEO of the group, says that such criticism is overdone and reminded that the company already had a "Code of Conduct." (Ref. 120308)
