Because employers keep refusing to grant its request, Verdi, the services union, which has been renegotiating banking collective agreements since March 1, has decided to adopt a harder tone. According to Beate Mensch, the union's executive negotiator, warning strikes should start by the end of May. In addition to a 6 percent wage increase over 12 months, the union has made 4 other requests, including better protection for banking advisors subject to possible sanctions by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin).
