And another victory for the IG-Metall: three days after signing a pilot agreement for metalworkers in Baden-Württemberg, the metal union signed, with the two key temporary employers' organizations in Germany (BAP and iGZ), a new innovative collective agreement for the temporary workers in the metal and electrical engineering industries. As of November 1, for the first time, they will get 'sectoral bonuses' amounting to 15-50 percent of their salary depending on how long their assignment in the company is. Saying that this agreement was a 'major step' towards 'equal pay' between permanent and temporary staff, the IG-Metall called on other sectors to sign similar agreements. (Ref. 120331)
