On Thursday, May 24, the social partners in the chemical industry agreed on a 4.5 percent increase over 19 months for the sector's 550,000 employees. The agreement renewing the sectoral collective agreement also contains measures aimed at facing demographic ageing and prepares the next generation. On the menu, a "demographic corridor" for a work week between 35 and 40 hours, to be negotiated at company level, a new special system for employees over 55 or even the introduction of a "professional chemistry caliper" to facilitate access to apprenticeship.
