Since none of its members were reinstated, the Fiom sued Fabbrica Italia Pomigliano (Fip), Fiat's newco managing the plant in Campania, for discrimination. The Court gave the union satisfaction, ordering the new company to reinstate 145 union members and to pay damages to the 19 members represented by name in the suit. This is the biggest ruling against fiat since the conflict with the CGIL's union, banned from representation in the group, went to Court throughout the country. (Ref. 120420)
