The Committee for a new Environmental Integrated Authorization is starting work today, August 27, and will have to determine the rules for future operations at Ilva in Tarente. Some of the facilities were sequestered in July because of an investigation on an environmental disaster the plant caused in the region. At first a public company, Italsider was bought by Riva Group in 1995 and became Ilva Tarente, now the biggest steel facility in Europe with about 12,000 direct employees, which makes it the largest facility in Italy.
