The management and central WC of the BMW automaker signed, on Wednesday, September 26, a company agreement planning to recruit about 3,000 people, mostly agency workers who are already working at BMW, in return for the possibility on making working time more flexible across the company during ups or downs. In the future, BMW cannot have over 8 percent of agency staff as opposed to a little over 15 percent today. The agreement will run until the end of 2013. It puts an end to several months of arm wrestling between the carmaker's management and the central WC and the IG-Metall union, who fought on several fronts to "force" BMW management's hand.
