The social partners in the "Metallgewerbe" industry, which represents 43,000 SMEs and nearly 190,000 employees (heating engineers, assembly operators, mechatronics engineers...) signed a wage agreement on October 9 in Vienna, valid for one year starting January 1, 2013. Minimum wages in the sector's grid and apprenticeship pay will increase by 3.4 percent and all other wages by 3.2 percent. Unlike the metal industry, where negotiations are at a standstill after three meetings, this agreement was wrapped up in just a few hours. (Ref. 120593)
