On October 27, the trade unions in the food industry (Fai-Cisl, Flai-CGIL and Uila-Uil) signed the agreement renewing the national collective agreement for the food industry 2012-2015, which expired on September 30, with a majority of employers' organizations. While unions are rejoicing with this agreement, several employers' organizations rejected it and left the bargaining table: Assalzoo (animal food), Assica (meat and cooked pork meats), Assocarni (meat), Una (poultry) and Anicav (canned vegetables), accounting for one third of the members of Federalimentare, the food employers' organization affiliated with Confindustria. They rejected it because of the wage increases and the removal of productivity measures "without anything significant in return." However, Federalimentare says this agreement was "balanced and in line with interconfederal agreements." (Ref. 120641)
