Accused of underpaying employees at a site in Basel, Bilfinger Berger Spezialtiefbau GmBH, a subsidiary of the German construction firm Bilfinger Berger, is now banned from construction sites and tender offers (public and private) in Switzerland for two years. In addition to this sanction by the Basel economy and labor office, the German company had to pay a major fine, pay arrears and part of the control fees. It is the first time a major foreign company is condemned for wage dumping in Switzerland. (Ref. 120645)
