In July, HP's union representatives terminated the anticipation agreement establishing a European Works Council. Before a new agreement is signed, the EWC will be governed by the 2009 regulations - more advantageous for employee representatives. IndustriALL European Trade Union and UNI have worked on creating a union alliance to coordinate the European answer to the layoffs announced by the computer group by 2014. Besides, before voting its termination, the EWC lodged a complaint in Belgium for failure to comply with the information and consultation procedure. The verdict should be announced in late 2012/early 2013. (Ref. 120666)
