On December 6, Deutsche Bahn's management and the EVG rail union agreed, after 10 meetings, on the outline of a collective agreement on demography which will come into force on April 1, 2013. The final text isn't available yet but the agreement will be detailed in the coming days. The key measures announced are the unlimited renewal of the employment guarantee, the possibility for employees over 60 to cut working time by 20 percent, guarantee recruitment for all apprentices, the possibility for the company's different services and units to individually organize working time, or even equal pay for all agency workers in the company for 12 months. This agreement, which can be seen as a small revolution from the inside, came after a series of special agreements for different categories of staff and testifies to the company's urgent needs. Last year, it had announced that it intended to recruit over 70,000 people in 10 years. (Ref. 120726)
