The British government wants to offer employees the possibility of becoming shareholders in their company. In return for these free shares, they would have to give up some employment rights, e.g. protection against unfair layoff. The government would like this measure to come into force in April 2013. However, the "Shares for Rights" system remains highly controversial. (Ref. 120734)
