On December 20, the Senate approved, after adding amendments, the decree passed by the government to save the steel site at Ilva Tarente ("Emergency provisions for the protection of health, environment and employment levels in case of a crisis in industrial establishments of national strategic interest"), thus turning it into a law. However, the Tarente prosecution decided that some of the provisions in the decree violated the judiciary system and ordered production to stop on the largest steel mill in Italy on the grounds of "environmental disaster." It lodged a constitutional appeal. (Ref. 130003)
