By asking for a 6.6% wage increase for about 750,000 construction workers on January 24 in Frankfurt, the IG BAU construction union presented the highest claim yet for 2013 (+6.5% in civil service and +5% in wood and plastic). In addition to the wage increase the union also wants wages in the east to be harmonized with wages in the west along with an increase in minimum wage. Employers immediately rejected these claims. Collective negotiations will start on February 20 in Wiesbaden. (Ref. 130065)
