The prospect of an open strike at EON, the energy producer, is now over. The joint "Pay Committee" of the Verdi services union and IG BCE chemistry union agreed, on February 6, to the compromise adopted on February 1 by EON management and the two unions. The understanding provides for a 2.8% wage increase over 13 months for the group's 30,000 German employees, fixed-term contracts for apprentices and measures for employees who should be transferred to the group's new undertakings.
