Today, March 6, the government adopted the bill on secure employment. This text transposes the national cross-industry agreement (Accord national interprofessionnel - ANI) signed on January 11, 2013 by employers and the CFDT, CFTC and CFE-CGC unions. The day before, CGT and FO, the two unions that didn't sign, called for a demonstration against "social regression." Like the agreement, the bill aims to improve the balance between flexibility and security. Businesses say it makes layoff procedures legally safer and it legally validates employment guarantee agreements. For their part, employees are getting new rights, including participation on the boards of French companies with 5,000+ employees. The government is hoping that the majority at the National Assembly will come closer when debating the text and that the text will be adopted in early May. (Ref. 130156)
