Germany: +3% increase for steelworkers in West Germany

After a 3rd bargaining round which lasted for 11 hours, the IG-Metall metalworkers' union and the steel employers' organization (Arbeitgeberverband Stahl e.V.) announced, this morning, March 6, a new collective agreement for the 75,000 steelworkers employed in three west-German Lander: North Rhine-Westphalia, Low-Saxony and Bremen. In addition to a 3% wage increase on March 1, 2013, the agreement extends two agreements, one on job security and the other on part-time early retirement. Signed for 15 months, it will expire on May 31, 2014. (Ref. 130157)
