The proposal made by the mediator sent by the Spanish government was approved on Sunday, March 10 by the parent company of Iberia and British Airways, and validated on Monday, March 11 by the UGT, CCOO, Sitcpla, USO and CTA-Vuelo unions, which should formally sign the agreement on Wednesday, March 13. Only the SEPLA pilots' union reserved its decision, pointing out that its statuses impose 2 weeks' notice to call a meeting to ratify the agreement. A minority group of employees called "Los Lunes al sol" (Mondays in the sun) still rejects the draft agreement. The text was achieved just before the end of the prior consultation period - March 14. After this deadline, IAG would have started, with or without unions' consent, notifying layoffs and pay cuts. The plan presented provides for 3,141 leaves, most through early retirement, a pay cut up to 14% and a working time increase. (Ref. 130166)
