In a 05 September press release, German automotive manufacturing company Continental announced it would be offering its global employees the possibility of flexible working conditions (mobile working, part-time and flexi-time hours, and extended professional leave (sabbaticals)). The company’s offer extends to 200,000 employees at all levels covering 90% of the global workforce in 21 different countries. The group is convinced that this move puts it ahead in the race to attract the best talent. For Ariane Reinhart, Continental Executive Board member for Human Relations, this global plan fits in with Continental’s wider global digital transformation plan that in addition to flexible working conditions, promotes diversity, provides a framework of conditions for knowledge exchange and lifelong learning, and cultivates cutting-edge management. The global flexible working plan will be implemented by spring 2017.
