The US firm has said that mothers will be able to take 20 weeks of paid leave, compared to 14 at present. Meanwhile for fathers, partners and adoptive parents the length of paid leave will increase from 6 to 12 weeks. IBM will also offer employees up to 20,000 dollars to cover adoption or surrogacy expenses. According to CNET News, IBM has added itself to a list of tech groups, following in the footsteps of Netflix and Facebook, that have adopted a more liberal policy on parental leave, in a country where maternity leave is unpaid.
