The Sanofi Pharmaceutical Group's management has launched a negotiation with a delegation of 19 members of the European Works Council with a view to reaching an amendment to the agreement on the EWC. One of the objectives of the negotiations is to merge the European Works Council with the French Group Committee. An operation provided for by the Labor Code but still difficult to conduct since it assumes that the French elected respresentattives scuttle their own representative body. The mentioned track is intermediate, because it consists in making sure that the future French delegation which will be designated to sit on the EWC also forms the French group committee. The latter should continue to exist as well as its office, but it will be composed exclusively of French members at the European Council. However, once the amendment to the EWC is concluded, which grants the EWC the prerogatives of the Frenche Group Committee (right to economic expertise on the annual accounts, presentation of the strategic guidelines), the current agreement establishing the EWC should be denounced by its members.
