In December 2017, Adobe announced that it had achieved equal pay of men and women in the United States and had committed to reaching the same objective in India – its second largest employee base, with 5,500 people – at the start of 2018. Last year, the software firm reviewed of its job structure, analysed its compensation practices, and made adjustments to its existing staff practices, including the use of gender-neutral job descriptions and targeted training to identify unconscious bias. The firm also said it ceased to use a candidate’s prior remuneration to determine the starting salary offered, an important step to help counter the gender wage gap that candidates may have experienced in previous jobs.
