At the end of 2017, the management of the steel group ThyssenKrupp and the IG Metall union had reached a draft agreement to protect the sites and jobs in Germany as part of the ongoing merger with the Tata Steel Group. The agreement, which was submitted for approval by the 21,000 members of the steel group union, was approved by 92.2% of the members. IG Metall is pleased to have won 550 new members during the election that took place from 13 January to 3 February.
