The SNCF's European Works Council, meeting in plenary session on March 27th, denounced the use by management of "employees from Great Britain [...] to replace strikers at the workshops of le Landy", in Paris, to circulate the Eurostar. The president of SNCF refused "to recognize and to condemn such actions, even going so far as to challenge the factual presence of employees on the site," said the European Works Council in a statement. The European Works Council has given a mandate to its secretary, David Gobé (CGT), to initiate an interlocutory procedure on the grounds of "infringement of the right to strike", the statement said, saying that “when it comes to a transnational procedure, the committee has full competence in this area”.
