On 10 January, at a meeting in Rome, the Italian metalworking industry trade-union federations FIM-CISL and UILM, and the French trade-union federation FO Métaux, reviewed the situation of the STX and Fincantieri shipyards, which recently merged to give birth to a giant among European shipyards. According to FO Métaux, the Italian unions believe “it is possible to build a joint framework of common rights and rules via a group negotiation at European level”. The federations are committed to cooperating on a regular basis.
