Spain’s number one banking group together with the major trade unions (excluding the UGT) has secured an agreement over employee working conditions. In it measures are laid out that enable employees to ‘disconnect’ outside of working hours. Going forward, and from the moment their working hours are completed, employees at Banco Santander, Banco Popular, and Banco Pastor will no longer be obliged to reply to calls, messages, or e-mails. On top of this ‘right to disconnect’, the agreement allows for awareness-targeted actions that promote the reasonable and responsible use of new-technologies. Finally, Santander also agreed with the trade unions to implement equal working conditions for all employees across the banking group (Santander, Popular, and Pastor). In July 2017 Axa Seguros became the first Spanish company to conclude this type of agreement
