afargeHolcim: in a press release relayed by the FNCB CFDT, the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (EFBWW) said it was "surprised and outraged" by LafargeHolcim's announcement on May 25 of its intention to close its headquarters in France and Switzerland, while on May 17, at the European Works Council meeting, management "denied rumours of such a closure", notes the EFBWW. It considers that "the decision of the LafargeHolcim group is null and void until the European Works Council has expressed an opinion within the framework of the information and consultation process". It announced that it would "contact its lawyers" and request an extraordinary meeting of the European Works Council "to take the necessary decisions in the event of non-compliance with the agreement and European legislation". Lafarge's tradition of social dialogue did not survive the merger with Holcim.
