Google workers have organized and mobilized behind a campaign on Twitter and Instagram that aims to push tech companies to change how they manage workplace harassment cases. These workers are in particular calling for an end to the ‘forced arbitration’ practice. This is a clause in tech company employment contracts that effectively deprives workers of their rights to pursue legal action in cases of workplace harassment. Several tech companies, including Google, have recently announced they would be putting an end to this practice after a number of harassment and sexual assault cases. However several companies continue to use the clause for other employment disputes such as racial and religious discrimination.
