By anticipating the fact that 80% of students today will be working in professions that do not as yet exist, the Spanish telecoms operator’s foundation, Fundación Telefónica, has set up the ‘Conecta Empleo’ (Jobs Connect) platform that can identify, in real-time, the 23 most in demand digital jobs profiles across the country and it advises users how to find work in these new professions. The Connect Empleo platform was developed with another employment platform, Infojobs that reports on 70% of Spain’s job offers. Connect Empleo can identify, in real-time, the 23 most in demand job profiles and also provide a regionally based interactive job- offers map. In addition the virtual careers guidance expert uses algorithms to build tailor-made recommendations upon request. Thus Connect Empleo receives job offer information, identifies the most in-demand characteristics, as well as any required over-arching technical knowledge, and points to relevant training courses (from a database of 30,000), both free of charge and fee-paying. In addition Conecta Empleo offers free training courses both online and in physical settings on subjects including cyber-security, web analytics, video game design, business intelligence, and growth hacking.
