At the end of September, Germany’s leading global software engineering company SAP announced a set artificial intelligence (AI) guiding principles based on the dual principles of transparency and security. The aim is to guarantee that AI enables non-discriminatory product creation and production which is always under human control. Alongside these principles, SAP has also established an internal AI ethics committee as well as an external AI ethics advisory panel, and both bodies are tasked with considering various aspects of AI and managing the distribution and implementation of the AI code of conduct across the company’s 22,000 staff.
