On Thursday 9 July, German services trade union Verdi and the management of the German subsidiary of environmental services group Veolia announced that they have signed a collective agreement concerning the waste management division and some of its 11,000 employees. Katrin Büttner-Hoppe, Verdi’s negotiator, explained to Planet Labor that the agreement provides for an aid scheme dubbed a ‘fund against the pandemic’ (Pandemie-Fonds), which is open until 31 December for the employees most affected personally, socially or financially by Covid-19.
