The European Works Council of the Swiss pharmaceuticals group Novartis (50,000 employees in Europe), which is made up of 47 members from 26 European countries, has sent a letter to MEPS, calling on them to take steps to ensure that Europe’s antibiotics are produced inside the EU. The EWC is concerned in particular about active ingredients, where 80% of Europe’s consumption is currently produced in China and India.
