On 21 January 2021, Unilever, the UK multinational consumer goods group, issued a press release detailing its commitments to help ‘build a more inclusive society’ (here). Foremost among these is to ensure that ‘everyone who directly provides goods and services to the company earns at least a living wage or income, by 2030.’ The press release lists other commitments aimed at fostering business relationships with suppliers that are owned and managed by under-represented groups, and at working to both develop new and more flexible working methods and to contribute to equipping young people with essential skills.
